LJ Crafted Wines Hosts Valentine’s Day Specials

LJ Crafted Wines is a wine bar in La Jolla’s Bird Rock neighborhood that’s serving its wine straight from the barrel.

The barrel-to-glass concept is unique to San Diego and one that owners Lowell and Anne Jooste are in the process of patenting. Their connection to the winemaking business spans over four generations with 25 years of personal experience in South Africa’s wine industry.

Now they’re making premium wine in Napa Valley and selling it by the glass or growler (ask about their members’ club) here in America’s Finest City. They also have a sommelier on hand who is more than willing to describe the specific wines available, let you know what flavor notes to look for, how well the wines pair with food, and other insider tips and knowledge.

This type of quality product and customer connection from LJ Crafted Wines is what’s making the local wine scene slowly start taking the place of the craft beer craze of recent years. Like craft beer, now you don’t have to be a connoisseur to enjoy a glass of it. But you also don’t want to be embarrassed for not knowing the difference in styles, selections, or other unique elements that make up a specific wine.

Luckily for us, we have both a craft beer and a wine community filled with local businesses who love what they do and want to share it with the public.

If you’ve not yet stopped by LJ Crafted Wines, take a seat at the bar or the surfboard table facing the street, and don’t forget to take a growler of wine to go.

And if you’re a newbie, what better time visit because they are getting ready to celebrate their anniversary and Valentine’s Day all in the same week. Plan a date night with your sweetheart or take your Valentine’s treats to go with one of two options being offered by the wine bar.

Valentine’s Date Night

Take a bottle of Rosé or a Rosé fill of your growler along with a heart-shaped cheese made from a mix of goat and cow milk. Smooth and fine textured with buttery notes and topped with aromatic herbs. Or, order two glasses of Rosé with small Cheese and Charcuterie board to enjoy in our space. Each experience is $30.

Wine description : Pinot Noir Rosé 2014 from Lakeview Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
