Fall in love at North Carolina's Brown Mountain Beach Resort
By Katie Downey
Brown Mountain Beach Resort is a one-of-a-kind place that oozes with magic. The lovely wilderness encompassing the park is huge, at 38,000 acres. Pisgah National Forest borders this amazing getaway and offers even more to do and see than what you can explore on the resort's 23-acre grounds. The accommodations at the Brown Mountain Beach Resort are stunning. The moment you first see the yurt or cottage you are staying in will be forever etched into your memory.
Meals in paradise
Brown Mountain Beach Resort isn't just a yurt and cottage rental place in the middle of nowhere. The resort has everything a visitor might need and more. The cafe is ready to make your special half-caff mocha with a shot of caramel, two sweet and lows, and the regular iced coffee with almond milk your soon-to-be husband consumes like it is his life source. If that's the plan, there's also a quaint restaurant serving some fabulous brick oven pizza right to your doorstep. Not feeling pizza? The restaurant also makes a fantastic sandwich with homemade bread. They also provide seasonal snacks, like muffins and cookies. The menu is ever-changing, so you won't be stuck eating the same thing every day on vacation.
Snoozing in serenity
The options for lodging at Brown Mountain Beach Resort are marvelous, whether you are choosing an authentic glamping-style yurt or a gorgeous cottage. Most are lucky to have the refreshing Wilson Creek outside their front door. The resort sits on a one-mile stretch of the creek. Further down, the yurts have gained a ton of popularity over the last decade, and the yurts at Brown Mountain are perfect for weddings and special occasions. Each holds two to six guests and comes with all the basic necessities visitors have come to count on in their hotel rooms. The yurts come with electricity, a spacious kitchen with all the dining essentials necessary for that exquisite meal, and a bathroom stocked with clean towels and fragrant fancy soaps. It's where adventure meets luxury in the North Carolina mountains.
The handmade cottages are also pleasant and were built long ago, from 1918 - 1943. Other than sprucing up the place, the structures of the cottages remain primarily as they were when first built. The cottages are all slightly different in theme and style, so visitors can choose their favorite to book for next time. Some cottages are equipped with a hot tub with a view of the creek from your front deck and all come with a grill.
Adventure awaits
If Brown Mountain Beach Resort already sounds like heaven on earth, just wait until you hear about the activities. You can borrow a kayak, canoe, tube, or paddleboard and spend the day playing in the water and paddling around to check out all there is to see. If you would prefer to stay on dry land, check out the rentable UTVs, take a trip by horseback, or wander around the farm and make friends with the alpacas. There really is an activity for everyone here. If you travel with children, the resort also offers babysitting.
